Will You Be Responsible?

On the 21st of June 2018, KOSHH attended the first of a number of public "Committees In Common" meetings, held by Merton CCG, Sutton CCG, and Surrey Downs CCG.

The meeting had been called in order for the "committee in common" to decide on whether (or not) to proceed with their proposal called "Improving Healthcare Together 2020-2030".

This proposal would see Acute services removed from ONE OR BOTH of Epsom hospital and St Helier hospital, and offers only the possibility of the building of a new "Acute Facility" (not hospital), some years later.

At best, the "Improving Healthcare Together 2020-2030" proposal would result in a loss of Acute Beds in the area. In 2014, Epsom hospital and St Helier hospital had 759 Acute beds, but the highest number of beds in any "Acute Facility" is proposed to have only 500, or possible as few as 300.
