Profile: Simon Stevens – Former advisor to Dobson, Milburn, Blair – now Chief of NHS England

Simon Stevens is currently in charge of NHS England, but some readers may find his background interesting.

  • He was a Labour councillor, London Borough of Lambeth, in the Angell Ward in Brixton, 7th of May 1998 - 2nd of May 2002

  • He worked as a manager in the NHS in Tyneside, Northumberland, and later at Guys and St Thomas'
  • He was a policy adviser to Labour Health Secretary, Frank Dobson
  • He was a policy adviser to Labour Health Secretary, Alan "Bridgepoint Capital" Milburn
  • He was then "Health policy advisor" to Tony Blair
  • He went on to work at US health giant, UnitedHealth where among other roles, he was president of "Global Health"
